The Bible On Anger

Christians should control their temper. I know many of them who control their temper better than I do. Anger is a bad habit. I need the Lord*s help to get rid of my anger way too often. How about you?

If a Christian is perpetually angry at someone, his anger keeps him from serving the Lord. Christians who control their temper are better than those who do not. Staying angry can cause us to sin. Angry individuals like to make others angry about whatever they are angry about. We should not befriend angry people or associate with them. Individuals with quick tempers do foolish things. Anger is unforgiving. Our anger can come between us and the forgiveness of the Lord. Our anger is often inappropriate because we have all sinned against the Lord more than those we are angry at have sinned against us.

The only thing a Christian should ever be angry about is sin. If we love our neighbor as ourselves, we will be just as angry at our own sin as we are at his.

James 1:19-20: Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Ephesians 4:26: Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Proverbs 16:32: He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Psalms 37:8: Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

Proverbs 22:24: Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Proverbs 14:17a: He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: . . .

Mark 11:26: But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
